The members of our professional staff, researchers, writers, contributors and consultants, are licensed practicing physicians in the US who have been trained and are, or have been, on the faculty and medical staff at the following institutions: Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, USC Medical School, Harvard University Medical School, Mayo Medical School, UCLA Medical School, Duke University Medical School, Stanford University Medical School, Yale University Medical School, Georgetown University Medical School, Tulane University School of Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine, Cornell University Medical School, Columbia University Medical School, Emory University Medical School, UVA Medical School and other prestigious medical centers.
The development of medical sciences in the US is unparalleled; we are constantly surprised, and delighted, with the announcement of the application of new treatments, medications, surgical techniques and medical devices. The amount of information available from hundreds of excellent medical institutions is extraordinary. Still, somehow, because of the realities and time constraints of daily medical practice, most of this valuable information would not reach and benefit our patients.
Time is always scarce and the unavoidable demands and ever increasing burden of administrative chores and paperwork imposed by managed care and insurance companies, plus government regulations, takes away precious time that should be dedicated to our patients... who, understandably, may grow as impatient with our health care system almost as much as we are.
We may have the most advanced sources of medical knowledge in the world; however, our health care delivery system has evolved into an extraordinarily complex bureaucracy. Unfortunately, we all share the consequences of this harsh fact.
Most physicians are simply not available to address the many concerns and questions their patients may have regarding their health, and this creates a great deal of frustration, and resentment. While providing useful health and medical information, we only aspire to complement, in a very limited way, the knowledge obtained by our visitors and subscribers from their own family physicians.
Knowledge is power; our mission is to provide sound, authoritative health and medical information in order to improve the quality of our patients', visitors' and subscribers' lives... - J. Dahbar, MD - Medical Director, MedixNet, Inc.
